With programs founded on Christian principles, emphasizing education, health and recreation, the YMCA serves men, women, and children of all ages, religions, races and abilities, with a focus on youth.

VISION:
It is the vision of the YMCA of the East Bay that we shall be a catalyst for community development. By that we mean that we will initiate, facilitate and promote harmonious relations between the diverse members of our local branches. We will also enhance the quality of life of the community with appropriate health, educational, spiritual, and cultural programs.

VALUES:
The core values of the YMCA movement are Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. These values guide the behavior of individuals and the interpersonal relationships within the YMCA. These are the values we aim to teach our youth and adult members.

The YMCA supports these core values of personal behavior through a set of organizational values that direct how we manage and lead. As we practice these values as an organization, we accomplish the six:

• CREATIVITY - new ideas and new methods of pursuing the YMCA mission are encouraged, welcomed and rewarded.
• COMMUNICATION - honest, comprehensive and consistent information and opinion sharing across all levels of the organization is practiced.
• COMPETENCE - all employees and volunteers must receive the training, support and recognition they require to be successful.
• INTEGRITY - all commitments to our members, employees, partners and donors will be kept.
• PERSEVERANCE - we will powerfully pursue our goals through planned responses despite obstacles and challenges.
• TEAMWORK - the talents, skills, and expertise of every member of the YMCA team will be acknowledged and opportunity for each person to contribute to the overall Association effort in a meaningful way is made available.

GOALS:
• Enrich and Increase Childhood Development and Family Learning Programs
• Develop Total Health Programs for Youth and Adults
• Expand Leadership Development and Civic Involvement Opportunities for Teens/Young Adults
